- Lydia Ann Stoelting, age 97, of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home on June 18, 2019, at the Niagara Hospice House. Born in the Town of Lewiston on December 19, 1921, daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Ferchen) Haseley. Lydia was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz where she had been an active member in the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Sunday school teacher, and Holy Ghost Seniors. She was also a member of the Wheatfield Seniors. Lydia was employed at the Carborundum Company in Niagara Falls and later for the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, retiring in 1986 as the head custodian. She served as a past President of the Niagara Wheatfield Non-instructional Association and a member of the Niagara Wheatfield Retirees. Lydia enjoyed doing Wonder Word puzzles, reading, traveling and cooking. Survivors include three children, Jane Nichols, Roy Stoelting and Larry Stoelting; grandchildren, Cheryl (Mike) Newton and Christine Stoelting; great-grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Scarf, Justin Scarf, Nichole Newton, Nathan Newton and Jayson Newton; sister-in-law, Gladys Haseley; and many nieces and nephews. Lydia was predeceased by her husband, Alvin H. Stoelting, on July 31, 1961; brothers, Norman (Myra), Marcus (Lizzie), Wallace (Cordia), William (Irma), Richard (Helma), Benjamin, and Albert (Althea) Haseley; and sister, Esther (Irwin) Beutel. Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Friday from 4-8 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Denton White on Saturday at 11:00 AM in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street, Bergholz.Published on June 19, 2019
