    • John Pfohl Dies; Sanborn Farmer
      SANBORN, Dec. 12 - John B. Pfohl, 65, a well known farmer in this area, died unexpectedly at his home in Walmore Rd., Town of Lewiston, Saturday (Dec. 10, 1955). Mr. Pfohl, son of the late Ferdinand and Auguste Milleville Pfohl L. was born in the Town of Wheatfield and lived most of his life on the farm where he died. His wife, Elenore Pfahrnwald (sic) Pfohl, died in June of 1947. He was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Minnie Kroening, Mrs. Martha Haseley, Mrs. Verone Hasely (sic) and Mrs. Lizzie Hasely (sic), all of Sanborn, and Mrs. Elenore Goeseke, Akron, N.Y.; four sons, the Rev. John Pfohl, Loyal, Wis., Sigmund Pfohl, Niagara Falls, Louis Pfohl and Max Pfohl, Sanborn; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at his home at 2 p.m. tomorrow and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Martin Pempeit. Interment will be St. Peter's Cemetery.

      Born Sept 16, 1873, in Town of Wheatfield (Walmore) NY., baptized by Rev. von Rohr, confirmed April. 3, 1887 by Rev. J. N. Grabau; married Eleonore Fahrenwald Jan 26, 1899, by Rev. H. Mackensen. (He was the son of Ferdinand Pfohl and Auguste nee Milleville. Wife died in June 1947. Was a lifelong and very faithful member. Served many years on church council, sang in choir, assisted the pastor by reading sermons in services occasionally. In 1915, was a member of building committee for the present church building; good health all his life. Was in church last Sunday of his life. Survivors: 4 sons, Sigmund, John (in WI. is an A. L. C. pastor, ordained in 1928). Louis, Max; 5 daughters, Martha (Mrs. Jonas Haseley), Verone (Mrs. Mervin Haseley), Lizzie (Mrs. Marcus Haseley), Eleonore (Mrs. Gilbert Goeseke) of Akron, NY, 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Cause of death (sudden), heart trouble, I believe. [the oldest daughter, Minnie Mrs. Philip Kroening, was omitted as a survivor]
