Norman A. Walck, retired water superintendent of the Town of Wheatfield, died Tuesday (July 18, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. He was 77. He retired in 1988 after 34 years with the Town of Wheatfield. A World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces, Walck was a past commander of American Legion Post 1451 in Wheatfield. He also had served as president of the Wheatfield Business Association and as secretary of the American Waterworks Association, and was on the board of the former Bergholz Fire Insurance Co. Walck was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Audrey Mueller; a son, Robert of Chicago; a daughter, Cheryl Hayes of Lockport; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Michigan; a brother, Melvin of Michigan; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Walmore Road in Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Norman A. Walck Served in Air Forces from 1943 to 1946
SANBORN - Norman A. Walck, 77, of Lockport Road, died Tuesday (July 18, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on March 14, 1923, in Wheatfield, the son of August and Eleanor (Retzlaff) Walck. On Oct. 1, 1949, he married Audrey Mueller. Mr. Walck attended local schools, and served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1943 to 1946. He is a past Commander of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451. He was a life long member of St. Peter's Evangelist Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he served on the church council in various capacities. He was employed by the Town of Wheatfield for 34 years, with the last 25 years as the water superintendent, retiring in 1988. Mr. Walck was a past president of the Wheatfield Business Association; past secretary of the American Waterworks Association; served on the board of directors for the former Bergholz Fire Insurance Co.; and was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Co. in his spare time he enjoyed fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Walck of Chicago; a daughter, Cheryl Hayes III of Lockport; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda, and Doris Toellner of Michigan; a brother, Melvin Walck of Michigan; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Chester Walck and Marion DuBois. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where Wheatfield Post 1451 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the Sanborn Fire Co. with hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Bruce Gamaché at St. Peter's Evangelist Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Evangelist (sic) Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
