      DeVANTIER - Edwin E. DeVantier, 94, Thursday evening (March 14, 1985) at his home after a lengthy illness. Pre deceased by his wife, Lily L. (Haseley), he is survived by five children, Mrs. Hilda Grawe of Wheatfield, Franklin (Veronica) of North Tonawanda, Elton (Barbara), Melvin (Gail) and Mrs. Erich (Alice) Marzahl, all of Wheatfield, also survived by two sisters-in-law, Esther DeVantier and Viola Milleville, both of Wheatfield; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pre deceased by one brother, Benjamin and one sister, Esther Haseley. Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 8904 So. Military Rd Niagara Falls, Friday 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday (Mar. 17th) at 3 p.m. at St. James Ev. Lutheran Church with the Rev. John H. Crilley officiating Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

      Sunday Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz for Edwin E. DeVantier, 94, who operated the first motel campground on Niagara Falls Boulevard, near the present Oppenheim Zoo in Wheatfield. Mr. DeVantier died Thursday in his home at the site of the former motel after a long illness. Mr. DeVantier not only built the small rental motel "houses," about 69 years ago, but also hauled drinking water from North Tonawanda to Wheatfield residents before the town had its own water system. He is survived by five children: Hilda Grawe of Wheatfield, Franklin DeVantier of North Tonawanda, Elton and Melvin DeVantier, and Alice Marzahl, all of Wheatfield; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 8904 Military Road, Niagara Falls.
