PICKS UP LIVE WIRE AND MEETS INSTANT DEATH
Tuscarora Road Man Electrocuted by 2,200 volt Charge on Lawn of Home
Albert W. DeVantier, 52 years old, of the Tuscarora road, R. F. D. Route No. I, was electrocuted this morning at 10:25 o'clock when he picked up a wire carrying 2,200 volts of electricity which had fallen across the lawn of his home. Falls firemen answered a call to the DeVantier home to render first aid with the fire department inhalator but First Assistant Fire Chief Peter P. McGraw and Firemen Elmer Tevins and John Eagan reported that DeVantier was dead when they reached the scene. Firemen said that the Niagara Falls Power company was installing some wires along the road near the DeVantier home and that when one of the wires fell across DeVantier's property he picked it up, not realizing that it was charged, and was instantly killed.
