      DEVANTIER - John W., age 68, of the Town of Wheatfield, N.Y., Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1977, in Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, N.Y. Mr. DeVantier was a life long resident of the Town of Wheatfield, Member and Elder of St. James Lutheran Church, Member of the Planning and Zoning board of the Town at Wheatfield, The St. Johnsburg Fire Co. and a former employee of the National Grinding Wheel. He is survived by his wife, Leona (nee) Grawe; daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Karen) Stoelting of the Town of Wheatfield, Mrs. Merrill (Priscilla) Bowen at Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. William (Nancy) Stuckwich of Pendleton, N,Y.; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Edward Sr. and Harold T. DeVantier of the Town of Wheatfield and Alfred of Cambria, N.Y.; 2 sisters. Mrs. Edward (Edna) Mueller of Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Mrs. Irma Blank the Town of Wheatfield; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME Inc., 1241 Oliver 51 at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, N.Y., this evening from 1109 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 1 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in St. James Lutheran Church Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John H. Crilley officiating. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may. be made to the St. James Lutheran Church fund or the charity at choice 10/26,21

      TOWN OF WHEATFIELD - John W. DeVantier, 68, of 2311 Niagara Falls Boulevard, died in Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, today (Oct. 26, 1977). A lifelong resident of here, he was elder of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of the Planning and Zoning Boards of the town, a member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Company, and a former employee of the National Grinding Wheel of North Tonawanda, retiring in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Leona (Grace) DeVantier, three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Karen) Stoelting of Wheatfield, Mrs. Merrill (Priscilla) Bowen of Buffalo, and Mrs. William (Nancy) Stuckwich of Pendleton; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Edward DeVantier Sr., and Harold T. DeVantier of Wheatfield, and Alfred DeVantier of Cambria; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Edna) Mueller of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Erma Blank of here, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, Friday at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Memorials may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church memorial fund or the charity of one's choice, the family said.
