William Jaenecke, 84, Dies, Saw NT Industries Grow Up
William F. Jaenecke, 84, died last night at the home of his grandson, Louis E. Jaenecke, 24 Falconer street. A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, Mr. Jaenecke was born on his fathers farm, where the present plant of the Rudolph Wurlitzer Manufacturing company is located. He was born on July 16. 1861. During his boyhood he planted the willow trees that have added to the attractiveness of the Sawyer creek, running parallel with the Niagara Falls boulevard in the vicinity of the Wurlitzer plant. In his younger life he worked at various saw mills then located in the Tonawandas. He later became a carpenter and then a pattern maker and inventor, making many improvements on the early gasoline engine. He was well known to nearly all of the local industries and held patents on various mechanical devices. He built his home at 323 Falconer street nearly 60 years ago at which time that section was nearly all woodland and on!y a few small cottages were located near there. For many years he operated a pattern shop at the same address. Mr. Jaenecke is survived by a wife, Anna, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Goltz, North Tonawanda, N. Y., Mrs. Mary Hake, Alden, N. Y. and Mrs. Elizabeth Kopp, Ransomville, N. Y. One grandson, Louis E. Jaenecke, North Tonawanda and one great granddaughter, Betty Lou of North Tonawanda, N. Y. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver street. Rev. G. Howard Mickelson officiating, burial will at the St Matthews cemetery.
