LOCKPORT - Carol A. (Berube) Strassburg, formerly of North Tonawanda, of Lockport, died peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2011 at home, surrounded by her family, while receiving care from Niagara Hospice. Carol was born in North Tonawanda, NY on September 4, 1949, a daughter of the late Camille and Violet (Stoeckel) Berube. She attended St. Mark Lutheran School, North Tonawanda and was a longtime member of its church. Carol graduated from North Tonawanda High School Class of 1967 and the Continental School of Beauty. While her husband, Terry was in the US Marine Corps, they lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Shawnee, KS, where she practiced cosmetology before returning home to North Tonawanda in 1986. Having a keen eye for decorating, Carol began to share her love of country décor and opened “Lets Go Country” in 1986 in her former Oliver Street home. She operated the store until 1998. A savvy business woman, Carol was instrumental in the growth of the family business, JT Enterprises to an international medical company, operating from their Lockport home. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and cross stitch. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Collin, Jessica and Morgan Strassburg and Madison and David Bunn. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Terry A. Strassburg; her son, David Strassburg of Lockport, NY; her daughter, Amanda Bunn and her husband, David of Lockport; two sisters, Barbara Jean LeFevers (Garry) of Lee Summit, MO, Linda Dolpp (Mike) of North Tonawanda; her brother, Mark Berube (Karrie) of North Tonawanda; aunt and uncle, William and Esther Stoeckel of North Tonawanda; her lifetime friend, Peggy Schaab and dear friend, Dotty McIntosh; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present Friday from 2-5, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held Saturday 11 AM. The interment will be in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.  If desired, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY, or to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, North Ridge, 4169 Church Road, Lockport, NY 14094.
