SANBORN - Dorothy H. Wendt of Sanborn died Friday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness. She was 75. Born Dorothy Walck in St. Paul, MN., she graduated from Minnehaha Christian Academy in Minneapolis in 1948. She moved to Niagara Falls the next year and worked for Republic Light and Power Co. She married her husband, Donald, in late 1951 and, together, they founded and operated Wendt's Propane Gas Co. from 1952 to 1966. Dorothy also worked at the Beacon Christian Book Store from 1972 to 1978 and 1984 to 1993. Mrs. Wendt was a counselor and prayer partner for the Christian Broadcasting Network's 700 Club for several years in the 1980's, and she and her husband had a satellite branch of the 700 Club in a warehouse on Lockport Road property where they lived for 35 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, the Rev. Gary of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Douglas of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a daughter, Susan of Sanborn; two sisters, Martha Winnes of Minneapolis and Amanda Walck of Sanborn; a brother, the Rev. Alfred Walck of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday in First Assembly of God Church, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd.

DOROTHY H. WENDT
Dorothy H. Wendt, 75, of Sanborn, NY, went to her Heavenly home, on Friday January 20, 2006, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY, after a long illness. She was born in St. Paul, MN, on August 3, 1930, to Rev. Alfred W. and Amanda (Milleville) Walck. She attended elementary school in St. Paul and graduated from Minnehaha Christian Academy in Minneapolis, MN, in 1948. She moved to Niagara Falls, NY, in 1949 and worked for the Republic Lt. St. and Power Co. She married her husband, Donald William Wendt, on November 24, 1951. Together they founded and operated Wendt's Propane Gas Co. from 1952 to 1966. Dorothy also worked at the Beacon Christian Book Store from 1972 - 78, and 1984 - 93. When she retired she became a counselor and prayer partner for the CBN 700 Club for several years in the 1980's, When she and her husband had a satellite branch of the 700 Club in the warehouse on Lockport Road home where they lived for 35 years. Dorothy loved teaching Bible Studies, Sunday School Teaching for most of her Adult Life. She was also very fond of reading, music, traveling with her husband and family throughout the United States and Canada. She liked cooking and taking care of her family. Surviving in addition to her husband of 55 years, Donald William Wendt, of Sanborn, NY; two sons, Rev. Gary (Jacklin) Wendt, of Tuscaloosa, AL, Douglas (Marion) Wendt, of Grand Rapids, MI; a daughter, Susan Wendt, of Sanborn, NY; two sisters, Martha Winnes, of Minneapolis, MN, Amanda Walck, of Sanborn, NY; a brother, Rev. Alfred (Marion) Walck, of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gertrude Walck. The family, will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:30 AM, at the First Assembly of God Church, 9750 Niagara Falls Boulevard. Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Dorothy's memory to the CBN 700 Club, or the charity of one's choice.
