Notes	LIONEL READ SANBORN - Lionel J. Read, 74, of 2860 Saunders Settlement Road, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1971) in Newfane Inter-Community Hospital after a short illness. A native of Niagara Falls, he had resided in Sanborn for many years. He was a World War I veteran serving with the US Navy. He was a rural letter carrier at the LaSalle Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1960. Mr. Read was a member of the Sanborn Methodist Church, a charter member and past commander of Sanborn American Legion Post 969. He was a past commander of the Niagara County American Legion, a member of the World Letter Carrier Association and the Retired Men's Club of Niagara Falls. Surviving are his widow, Viola Read; a son, Lionel Leslie Read; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Clara) Martin all of Sanborn; three brothers, Alvin G. Read of St. Petersburg, Fla., the Rev. Edward T. Read of Rochester, and William P. Read of Niagara Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Gwen Jones of Niagara Falls, Mrs. T. Courtney (Susie) Andrews and Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Jeffery both of Ft. Myers, Fla., and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Floyd Gotgen officiating. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery. The Sanborn American Legion Post 969 will conduct memorial services Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Sanborn Methodist Church, the family said.
