    • William A. Haseley, 89, a former coal delivery driver and mill foreman, died Monday (Nov. 10, 2003) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after an unexpected illness. He was born in Lewiston and attended local schools. Haseley was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he was chairman of the parish Board of Education, a trustee and a member of the Call Committee and Second School Building Committee. He attended church and Sunday school regularly until his death. He was also a member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York. In his youth, Haseley worked on the family farm until he began working at the Thiele family farm in North Tonawanda. He later worked as a coal delivery driver and mill foreman for Thiele Coal & Feed, North Tonawanda, from which he retired at age 65 after 48 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, and he was known for his strawberries and produce and taking care of his lawn. He was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan, watched football and hockey and went deer hunting in his earlier years. He was married to Irma Helene. Walck, who died in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Iris of Sanborn; a son, Gary of Sanborn; four brothers, Wallace of Bergholz, and Albert, Marcus and Benjamin, all of Sanborn; a sister, Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield; and two grandsons. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

      William A. Haseley, 89, of Sanborn, NY, went to be with his Lord and Savior, after a full life on Monday, November 10, 2003. Born on June 4, 1914, to Albert and Anna [Ferchen] Haseley, in the Town of Lewiston, NY. Loving husband of Irma H. Walck, who he married on May 10, 1941 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, who predeceased him on February 2,1989. He was baptized on June 21, 1914. and was confirmed as a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, April 1, 1928. As a lifelong member, he served as Chairman of the Parish Board of Education, a Trustee, and was a member of the Call Committee and Second School Building Committee. He remained an active member of the church, attending church and Sunday School regularly until his death. He was also a member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in WNY. In his youth, he worked on the family farm until his employment at the Thiele family farm in North Tonawanda. He later worked as a coal delivery driver and mill foreman for Thiele Coal & Feed Inc., North Tonawanda, NY, where he retired after 48 years at the age of 65. He enjoyed gardening, where he was known for his strawberries and produce and taking care of his home and lawn. He was an avid New York Yankee baseball fan, watched football and hockey and went deer hunting in his earlier years. He was proud of his family, especially his two grandsons, Jonathan and David, watching their baseball games, growing pumpkins and talk about the “good ol' days”, with them. He was always willing to help anyone, always gave words of wisdom and enjoyed playing euchre with his brothers and friends. Surviving family includes a daughter, Iris Haseley, of Sanborn; a son, Gary [Renee] Haseley; two grandsons, Jonathan and David, of Town of Niagara; four brothers Wallace Haseley, Albert [Althea] Haseley, Marcus [Lizzie] Haseley and Benjamin [Gladys] Haseley, both of Sanborn; a sister, Lydia Stoelting, of Wheatfield; brother-in-laws, Edgar [Elva] Walck, of Wheatfield; Ralph [Joan] DeVantier, Youngstown, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Donald Haseley, who died in May 1946, and two brothers Norman Haseley and Richard Haseley, a sister Esther Beutel and a sister-in-law, Gladys DeVantier. Friends may call at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 7 - 9 PM, Wednesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, with the Rev. Bruce Gamaché, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or St. Peter's New School Building Fund.
